Great to read about cross in hand if anyone want to see how it used to be visit my dads site at http://www.1960s-spedeworth.co.uk/crossinhand.htm to see some great pictures.

I am sure my dad (and myself) would like to take the heritage formula two replica of his old car from 1966, for a blast round there when we have finished it.

who is doing any of the organising down at cross in hand, due to my dad raced there and keeps asking me who and when people go there cause he wants to go. i think if someone was to organise a proper get together at the old track you'd be very suprised how many people would turn up, sometype of get together like allan cullen was doing.

so if anybody can get me a number to ring about the next time a group go there, it would be very grateful.

I raced at Cross in Hand a couple of times in a stock car (MG Magnette of course) against the likes of Dance, Munn, James and co. If I remember correctly the turn from the upper to the lower straight had a bit of an adverse camber which threw the car towards the fence, which I hit - often! Great track for spectators.

Hi Janice, we popped down to check out the track today after Arlington, have you all really put in all that effort just to be told you can't use it?
It looks fantastic, you must have all worked so hard!, I'm so sorry if it was all in vain.

I still have photos of Cross-in-hand, a packed pits and my dad's saloon stock car (770) loading car onto a lorry circa 1968/69.

Cross in Hand nostalgia.

Postby DGS » Thu 19 Mar 2009, 20:51

Love the pics ............... almost brings a lump to the throat seeing the

overgrown track and general disrepair. Gone but never forgotten.

I remember the 2 day event they held, camped overnight, amazing

atmosphere. I also remember seeing Radio DJ Johnnie Walker racing

there in Stock cars. Also a friend and me made a big banner painted

with the words Cross in Hand Tigers on it (superstox).

And how about remembering the Dutch team that used to come over

and had specially adapted cars that they used to race backwards.

Great days.
